Friedo Ricken SJ

Friedo Ricken (born October 9, 1934 in Rheine ) is a German Jesuit and philosopher .

Until his retirement, Friedo Ricken was full professor for the history of philosophy and ethics at the Philosophical College of the Jesuits in Munich . It was in 1973 at Ernst Tugendhat with the work The concept of pleasure in the Nicomachean Ethics of Aristotle doctorate . Friedo Ricken is a recognized expert on both ancient and language-analytical philosophy, which he repeatedly combines in his numerous publications.

In addition to the philosophy of antiquity, the systematic focus of his research is ethics and the philosophy of religion. From 1999 to 2003 he was the spokesman for the DFG graduate school on the subject of "The concept of experience in European religion and the theory of religion and its influence on the self-image of non-European religions".

Ricken is a member of the KStV Guestphalia-Berlin in Frankfurt am Main, the KStV Staufia-Strasbourg in Frankfurt am Main, the KSStV Alemannia Munich and the KStV Alamannia Tübingen in KV . He is still the association chaplain of the KV .
