Karl Walter (born November 29, 1858 in Unterdeufstetten , † May 28, 1930 in Ellwangen ) was a German lawyer and politician of the Württemberg Center Party .

Life and work

Karl Walter attended the Latin school in Dinkelsbühl and the grammar school in Ellwangen. From 1877 to 1881 he studied law at the University of Tübingen and was a member of the KStV Alamannia Tübingen . In 1881 he passed the first and in 1883 the second higher judicial service examination . After joining the Württemberg judicial service, he worked as a trainee lawyer and judge at the courts in Weinsberg and Ludwigsburg . Since 1893 Karl Walter was district judge at the district court in Heilbronn , since 1901 district judge at the district court in Ellwangen. After the First World War, Karl Walter held the position of district court director at the district courts in Heilbronn and Ellwangen and retired at the end of 1925.

Political activity

As a member of the center, Walter held a mandate in the Chamber of Deputies of the Württemberg state parliament in Stuttgart from 1900 to 1918 . From 1919 to 1920 he was a member of the Constituent Assembly of the People's State of Württemberg and from 1920 to 1924 President of the Württemberg State Parliament . From 1924 to 1930 he was a full member of the Württemberg State Court, elected by the state parliament.

Family background

Karl Walter's father Franz Xaver Walter (* 1821 † 1903) was a teacher and married to Katherina nee Lamprecht (* 1827 † 1863), who in addition to Karl Walter gave birth to 16 other children. Karl Walter's marriage to Mina nee Sienz (* 1860), which had existed since 1885, had three children, including the politician Felix Walter , who became a member of the Parliamentary Council .
