Peter Van der Heyden (born July 16, 1976 in Aalst ) is a former Belgian football player .

Van der Heyden was active in Belgium for FC Denderleeuw and Eendracht Aalst . For the 2005/06 season he moved from Club Brugge to VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga on a free transfer . For Wolfsburg he played 43 times in the Bundesliga in three years, but was only used once in the 2007/08 season and played eight times with the amateurs. So he wanted to change clubs during the winter break, but stayed with VfL until the end of the season.

Starting with the 2008/09 season, 1. FSV Mainz 05 signed Van der Heyden for two years with the option of an additional year. In January 2010 he moved back to Belgium for Club Bruges. From there he came to FC Knokke via Beerschot AC , where he ended his football career in 2016.

National team

Van der Heyden played once for the Belgian U-18 national team in 1999 and 22 times for the Belgian national soccer team from 2001 to 2007 .
