Manasseh Ishiaku (born January 9, 1983 in Port Harcourt ) is a former Nigerian football player who also has Belgian nationality .

career

Ishiaku started his career at Shooting Stars FC in Ibadan . In 2001 the striker moved to Europe for the Belgian club KSV Roeselare . After a year he moved to the first-class Jupiler League at RAA La Louvière . With the club he reached the Belgian Cup final in 2003 , where he scored two goals for a 3-1 win over VV St. Truiden .

In January 2005 Ishiaku joined league rivals Club Bruges . In 2007 he scored the decisive goal in the cup final in a 1-0 win over Standard Liège .

For the 2007/2008 season he moved to MSV Duisburg and signed a contract for four years until 2011. In his first Bundesliga game for the Zebras on August 12, 2007 in Dortmund, he scored two goals (as well as in the cup game against SV Babelsberg) and thus contributed significantly to Duisburg's 3-1 victory. In the second home game of the season against Arminia Bielefeld, he also scored the MSV's first home win of the season. At this point he had already scored five goals in the season, so that he briefly occupied second place on the top scorer list.

For the game on October 14, 2007, he was appointed to the Nigerian national team for the first time by national coach Berti Vogts and played the full game in the 2-2 draw against Mexico .

From the 2008/09 season Ishiaku wore the jersey of 1. FC Köln . The transfer fee was € 2.5 million and the term was fixed until June 30, 2012. In the "billy goats", however, he could not prevail, only scored one goal in 28 Bundesliga games and switched to the Belgian first division club VV St. Truiden on January 31, 2011 on loan . He stayed there until the end of the 2010/11 season. Shortly after his return to Cologne, the parties involved dissolved the ongoing contract by mutual agreement in August 2011 and Ishiaku was now without a club.

It was not until February 2013 that Ishiaku signed a one-year contract with Sporting Aalst, a Belgian team from the 8th division, which is valid for the 2013/14 season. After a season at Sporting Aalst, Ishiaku finally ended his career.
