Marek Špilár (born February 11, 1975 in Stropkov , † September 7, 2013 in Prešov ) was a Slovak football player .

He died of suicide in September 2013 when he jumped from the fifth floor of a skyscraper in Prešov .

Career

Špilár started his career at 1. FK Drnovice , where he played from 1994 to 1995. He then played for 1. FC Tatran Prešov (1995–1997), FC VSS Košice (1997–2000), Baník Ostrava (2000–2001), SK Sigma Olmütz (2001–2002), FC Bruges (2003–2005) and Nagoya Grampus Eight (2006-2007). In 2007 he ended his playing career.

National team

In 1997, Špilár made his debut for the Slovak national football team . He has played a total of 30 international matches for Slovakia.
