Guillaume Gillet (born March 9, 1984 in Liège ) is a Belgian football player . The midfielder has been under contract with Belgian first division club Sporting Charleroi since July 2020 .

Career

society

Gillet began his professional career in 2002 with RFC Liège and played in the course of several club changes at times in the second Belgian league, the EXQI League . From the 2006/07 season he played for KAA Gent in the Belgian first division. In January 2008 the midfielder received a contract with RSC Anderlecht . In his first year, Gillet won the Belgian Cup 2008 with the RSC . One of his greatest successes was winning the championship with RSC Anderlecht in 2010 , 2012 and 2013 . From the 2013/14 season Gillet appeared as the team captain of Anderlecht; he replaced the previous captain Lucas Biglia , who had held this position since the beginning of 2012. In the summer of 2014 he moved to France on loan for a year to the first division club SC Bastia , where he was on the pitch for the full game on August 9, 2014, the first match day, in a 3-3 draw against Olympique Marseille . In France he wore the shirt number 27 and was used in all 38 league games.

After his contract with RC Lens expired in summer 2020, Gillet moved back to Belgium and signed a contract with Sporting Charleroi for the 2020/21 season.

National team

Guillaume Gillet competed for Belgium at the U-21 European Championship in 2007 and played a total of 22 times for the Belgian national team from 2007 to 2016 , scoring one goal.
