Regular season

The 16 clubs initially played the regular season in a double round. The final table served as the basis for qualifying for various placement rounds.

The six best-placed clubs reached the championship round, the teams in places seven to fourteen played for a possible international starting place. The last two teams played in the relegation. It should be noted that in the championship round half of the number of points achieved from the 30 games of the preliminary round is carried over, so that the further matches can only cause minor changes depending on the table situation.

Since the winner of the final KV Ostend did not receive a license for the UEFA Europa League 2014/15 , no play-off had to take place. As fourth in the championship round, SV Zulte Waregem was automatically qualified for the second round of the UEFA Europa League.

    Relegation

The last and penultimate place of the regular season denied the relegation. There were five games between the two teams. The penultimate of the regular season receives a bonus of three points and may also play one more home game than the last. The winner then played an additional relegation round with three teams from the 2nd division, in which only the winner qualified for the first division . The loser of the relegation, however, rose directly to the second division.
