history
The opening of the arena took place in 1957. Today the stadium consists of three stands. In the past, standing room in the curves was also used; after the promotion to the first division in 2005, however, they were closed and walls with advertising boards were put up. The floodlight system is integrated into the roofs of the spectator stands. The stadium offered seats for up to 20,000 spectators.
The stadium currently offers 12,250 seats on its stands.
- Grandstand 1: 3,823 seats
- Grandstand 2: 2,710 standing places
- Grandstand 3: 2,540 seats
- Tribune 4: 2,215 seats plus 962 seats for the guest fans
For a few years there have been plans to convert the sports facility into a multifunctional football stadium with a complete renovation. Construction began in 2014. The capacity should initially be 13,500 to 14,000 places, if necessary the facility can be expanded to 17,000 to 20,000 places. The construction is financed by the city of Waregem and some entrepreneurs. In addition to the sports complex, there are 120 apartments, a hotel, a shopping center and leisure facilities such as a fitness center and bowling alley. Construction will take place in several stages and be completed around 2017.
