Ronald Alejandro Vargas Aranguren , Ronald Vargas for short (born December 2, 1986 in Guatire ) is a Venezuelan football player . He has been playing for the Belgian second division KMSK Deinze since the 2020/21 season .

Career

The two-footed, 176 cm tall offensive player began his career at FC Caracas , in whose professional squad he was included for the 2005/06 season. After he had convinced with his good performances for three years and won the Venezuelan championship in 2006 and 2007 , the top Belgian club FC Bruges signed the South American. Here he was able to establish himself in the regular team straight away and was successful as a goalscorer 25 times in a total of 95 competitive games.

His move to RSC Anderlecht in Belgium was announced on June 29th . He signed a contract until June 30, 2014. Vargas made his first game in the Jupiler Pro League on September 25, 2011 (8th matchday) in the home game against Beerschot AC , when he came on for Olivier Deschacht in the 75th minute . He made his first goal for his new club on September 21, 2011 away against Lommel United , when he came on for Kanu in the 62nd minute and converted a penalty he had fouled to make it 4-0 in the 82nd minute.

After 25 championship games and four goals, he moved to the Turkish Süper Lig at Balıkesirspor in the summer of 2014 . After a year in Turkey, he moved to Greece to AEK Athens in July 2015 .

For the 2017/18 season, Vargas moved to Australian club Newcastle United Jets for one year . The contract was extended by one season. Another extension was refused.

Vargas then moved to Belgian first division KV Ostend for the 2019/20 season with a contract for one year with an extension option for another year. He justified the move back to Belgium with the fact that his wife is from Belgium. Until the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic , he played 18 out of 29 possible games for Ostend and scored three goals.

In mid-August 2020, he moved to division 1B KMSK Deinze .

National team

Vargas made his debut on June 7, 2008 in a friendly against Brazil . In this game he was on the starting line-up and also scored his first goal on an international level. By 2015 he had played 22 games and scored three goals.
