Waldemar Sobota ( May 19, 1987 in Ozimek , Poland ) is a Polish football player . The 1.75 m tall player is used in midfield or storm and is right-footed. Sobota is currently under contract with Śląsk Wrocław .

Sobota began his career in his native city with Małapanew Ozimek and KS Krasiejów . From July 2007 he played at MKS Kluczbork , scored 36 goals in 93 games in three seasons and rose in 2009 with the team from the 2nd division to the 1st division (second highest Polish division). In the summer of 2010 he decided to move to the first division club Śląsk Wrocław . In 2012 he became Polish champions with the club and won the Supercup . In early September 2013 Sobota signed a four-year contract with the Belgian club FC Bruges . At the beginning of 2015 he was loaned to the German second division club FC St. Pauli in order to get more match practice. He scored his first goal on matchday 27 in a 4-0 win against Fortuna Düsseldorf . On June 30 of the same year, the loan was extended for one year. In March 2016, Sobota was committed to an option and signed a contract until June 30, 2018. After Sobota's contract expired in summer 2020, he moved back to Śląsk Wrocław on a free transfer.
National team
In early December 2011 he was nominated for the first time by the national coach Franciszek Smuda for the Polish national soccer team . On December 16, 2011 he made his international debut when he was in the starting line-up in the friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina . He scored the decisive goal for the 1-0 final score. So far, he has played 17 international matches in which he was able to score 4 goals. Since the end of 2014, however, he has not been called up for the Polish national team.

His father is an active member of the German minority in Schodnia and Sobota calls himself a Silesian . Before starting his football career, he began studying German , which, however, he finished in favor of sport, despite good performances.
