Davy Roef (born February 6, 1994 in Antwerp ) is a Belgian football goalkeeper who will play for the Belgian first division club KAA Gent from the 2020/21 season .
Career
Roef made his professional debut for RSC Anderlecht on January 19, 2014 when he was substituted on for injured goalkeeper Silvio Proto in an away game against KV Mechelen .
For most of the games of the 2014/15 season and all games of the 2015/16 season, Roef sat on the reserve bench without being substituted on. In the 2016/17 season he was in goal for the first fifteen games before he had to sit on the bench again. In January 2017 he was loaned to the Spanish club Deportivo La Coruña until the end of the season , which this year played in the Primera División , the top Spanish league. An ankle injury was the reason that Roef was only used for the first time in the last game of the season, when the club was already relegated.
Back in Belgium, he was loaned out to league rivals Waasland-Beveren for the 2018/19 season in August 2018 . This loan was extended by one season with a purchase option.
Waasland-Beveren was also ready to pay the agreed transfer fee in March 2019, but Roef refused to move permanently to Waasland-Beveren.
In the 2019/20 season he was back in the RSC Anderlecht squad. In the entire season until it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic , Roef only played one game with the reserve team.
In May 2020, a change within Division 1A to KAA Gent was agreed, where Roef signed a contract with a term of three years.
From 2010 to 2013 he ran for the Belgian youth national teams in the age groups U-16 and U-19.
