Nana Akwasi Asare (born July 11, 1986 in Kumasi ) is a Ghanaian soccer player . The defender has been under contract with the Belgian club KAA Gent since summer 2013 .

Career

society

Asare was trained at the West African Football Academy , a football academy run by Feyenoord Rotterdam in Ghana. In 2003 he was taken over by the main club in the youth boarding school in Rotterdam. He came to his first missions in the senior sector in the 2004/05 season when he was loaned to the Belgian second division club Royal Antwerp . From 2005 he played for KV Mechelen , initially for two years on loan from Feyenoord in the second division. After the club rose to the First Division in 2007 , he was firmly committed. After another year in Belgium, the defensive player returned to the Eredivisie for the 2009/10 season . There, FC Utrecht took him under contract. In 2013 he moved back to KAA Gent in Belgium .

National team

Asare was in the squad for the Africa Cup of Nations 2008 in Ghana, but was not used during the tournament. He made his national team debut in September 2007 in a friendly against Morocco in Rouen, France .
