Núrio Domingos Matias Fortuna (born March 24, 1995 in Luanda ), also known as Núrio , is an Angolan - Portuguese football player who has been under contract with the Belgian first division club KAA Gent since July 2020 . The left full-back has been an Angolan international since September 2019 .

Núrio Fortuna was born in the Angolan capital Luanda and moved to live with his mother in Portugal at the age of six after his parents separated. He began his football training at Núcleo Sintra and then played in the youth departments of Benfica Lisbon , Real SC and Sporting Lisbon . In July 2012 he moved to the U19 of Sporting Braga , where he was promoted to the reserve team Sporting Braga B for the 2013/14 season , which played in the second-highest Portuguese division . On August 25, 2013 (4th matchday), the left full-back made his debut in the 2-0 away defeat against SC Covilhã . He then started regularly and was promoted to the first team of head coach Jesualdo Ferreira for the first time in February 2014 . On February 6, 2014, he played his first game for the men's selection in a 3-1 cup win against Desportivo Aves . Also in the top Portuguese league he was used sporadically this season and ended this with five league appearances for the first and 18 league appearances for the reserve team.

In the next season 2014/15 he was a regular in the reserve and was in action for them in 32 league games, while he only played one game in the first team. On September 16, 2015 (7th matchday) he scored his first goal in the second team in the 3-2 away defeat against SC Farense . In this 2015/16 season he played in 34 league games in which he scored one goal and two assists.

After having no chance of a breakthrough in the first team, he became the Cypriot first division club AEL Limassol for the entire 2016/17 season . He made his debut on August 21, 2016 (1st matchday) in a 1-0 home win against Anagennisi Deryneia . At AEL he quickly established himself as a regular player and played a total of 33 league games, in which he prepared four goals.

On June 23, 2017, the Belgian first division club Sporting Charleroi announced the signing of Núrio, where he started a three-year contract with an option for another on July 1, 2017. On July 29, 2017 (1st matchday), he made his debut for his new club in a 1-0 home win against KV Kortrijk . It started regularly over the next few weeks, but was only used sporadically from November 2017 until the playoffs. In his first season 2017/18 he was used in 26 league games in which he made three assists. In the following season 2018/19 he started again frequently. On May 4, 2019, he scored his first goal in the Zèbres jersey in a 2-0 home win against VV St. Truiden . He ended the season with 31 league appearances, in which he was able to collect one goal and four assists. In the 2019/20 season, which was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic , he only missed one of the 29 league games in which he scored one goal and prepared three more goals.

On July 1, 2020, Fortuna moved to league competitor KAA Gent for a transfer fee of six million euros , making it the most expensive purchase in the club's history. He signed a four-year contract with the Buffalo’s .

National team

Núrio Fortuna is a dual Angolan-Portuguese citizen and could therefore have played for the national teams of both nations. On August 30, 2019, he was called up for the first time in the Angolan national team . On September 6, 2019, he made his debut in a 1-0 away win against Gambia in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar .
