Elisha Owusu (born November 7, 1997 in Montreuil , Seine-Saint-Denis ) is a French soccer player of Ghanaian descent who has been under contract with the Belgian first division club KAA Gent since July 2019 .
Career
Elisha Owusu was in Montreuil , Seine-Saint-Denis , the son of Ghanaian born parents and began at the age of six years at SC Air Bel in Marseille playing football. In 2009 he moved to the youth department of FC Bourgoin Jallieu and another year later he joined the youth academy of Olympique Lyon . With the U17 team, he won the French U17 championship in the 2013/14 season.
During the 2014/15 season he was for the first time in the reserve team Olympique Lyon II in the matchday squad. On March 21, 2015 (18th matchday) Owusu made his debut in the 1: 2 away defeat against Grenoble Foot in the Championnat National 2 when he came on in the 45th minute for Jérémy De Sousa . On May 16, 2015 (29th matchday), he scored for the reserve for the first time in a 4-2 away win against US Le Pontet Grand Avignon . During this season he played five league games and in the next 2015/16 season he came only to one use. In the course of the 2016/17 season he established himself in the starting line-up of the second team. On February 23, 2017, he signed his first professional contract with OL. This season he played 18 league appearances in which he remained without a goal. He scored one goal in 25 league appearances in the 2017/18 season, in which he also sat on the reserve bench for the men's team for the first time.
In order to gain match practice at a higher level, he was loaned to the second division club FC Sochaux on July 1, 2018 for the entire 2018/19 season. On June 27, 2018 (1st matchday) he made his debut in the 0-1 away defeat against Grenoble Foot for the Lionceaux . He quickly became an undisputed regular player under head coach José Manuel Aira . During this season he played 33 league games and then returned to Lyon .
For the 2019/20 season, Elisha Owusu moved to the Belgian first division club KAA Gent , where he signed a four-year contract. On July 28, 2019 (1st matchday) he made his debut in a 1-1 draw against RSC Charleroi for De Buffalo’s . He has been an undisputed regular player in defensive midfield since his arrival and completed 27 league games in his first season at the club.
