Laurent Depoitre (born December 7, 1988 in Tournai ) is a Belgian football player who has been playing for KAA Gent since the 2019/20 season .

Career

On March 26, 2014, the first division KAA Gent signed him . Depoitre signed a three-year contract until June 30, 2017.

This contract was terminated in summer 2016 against payment of a transfer fee of 40 million euros. Depoitre signed a four-year contract with the Portuguese club FC Porto .

Just a year later, this contract was canceled for a fee of 3.5 million pounds and Depoitre moved to the English club Huddersfield Town with a two-year contract with the option of an extension of one year . In the 2017/18 season, this club played for the first time in the top English league, the Premier League .

The 2018/19 season did not go so well for Huddersfield. They found themselves in the table basement and ultimately had to accept relegation to the EFL Championship as bottom of the table . It didn't work for Depoitre either, since he hadn't been part of the Terriers squad since the beginning of March 2019 .

For the 2019/20 season he switched back to KAA Gent, where he signed a three-year contract.

National team

Depoitre played his only game for the national team on October 10, 2015 as part of the European Championship qualification against Andorra . He also scored a goal.

In the following two internationals he was in the squad, but actually did not play. Then he was included in the squad again in two friendly matches in 2017, but without playing.
