Alessio Castro-Montes (born May 17, 1997 in Sint-Truiden ) is a Belgian football player who is under contract with the first division club KAA Gent .

Career

Alessio Castro-Montes was born in Sint-Truiden, Flemish, to a Spanish father and a Belgian mother. He started playing football at VV Gelmen. After he then played in the youth department of Standard Liège and RSC Anderlecht , he returned to his hometown to VV St. Truiden . He made his debut for the first team on the last matchday of the 2015/16 season (7 May 2016) in a 3-0 home defeat against RSC Charleroi , when he came on for Victorien Angban in the 75th minute of the game . In the following season 2016/17 he did not play a single league game.

In the 2017/18 season , Alessio Castro-Montes switched to league rivals KAS Eupen . On August 12, 2017 (3rd matchday), he made his debut for the Walloon club in a 2-1 home defeat against KV Kortrijk . In this first round of the season he was only used sporadically in various positions. In the playoffs he received significantly more time and ended the season with 14 league appearances. In the course of the following season 2018/19 , he made his breakthrough as a right full-back in the starting line-up of head coach Claude Makélélé . In the 2-1 away win against RSC Charleroi on March 17, 2019 (30th matchday), Castro-Montes scored his first goal in the top Belgian division. A month later (5th matchday of the playoffs) he scored his second goal of the season for KAS Eupen in a 1-1 draw against his former club VV St. Truiden. During this season he was used in 22 league games.

On June 17, 2019, Castro-Montes moved to league competitor KAA Gent for a transfer fee of 1.2 million euros , where he signed a three-year contract. On July 25, 2019, he made his debut for his new club in a 6-3 home win against FC Viitorul Constanța in qualifying for the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League . He scored his first goal on November 3, 2019 (14th matchday) in a 3-1 home win against Standard Liège in the league. In this 2019/20 season he played 21 league games in which he scored two goals and four assists.
