Demy de Zeeuw (born May 26, 1983 in Apeldoorn ) is a Dutch football player .

Career

De Zeeuw began his career in the youth of AGOVV Apeldoorn . He made his professional debut with the Go Ahead Eagles Deventer in 2001. In his first season he came on two more missions. In the following two years, his playing time increased more and more until he was part of the Eagles' permanent staff in the 2004/05 season . For the 2005/06 season he moved to AZ Alkmaar , where he soon fought for a regular place. Under coach Louis van Gaal , the team became Dutch champions in 2009 . By performing well in the league, he caught the attention of the then Dutch national coach Marco van Basten . For the 2009/10 season de Zeeuw moved to Ajax Amsterdam . Two years later he was drawn to the Russian Premier League at Spartak Moscow . However, he couldn't really assert himself there and often sat on the bench. That is why it was awarded to the RSC Anderlecht on January 22nd, 2013 . In Anderlecht he became champions and the loan deal was extended for another season in the summer. After his contract in Moscow expired, de Zeeuw was without a club for six months before training in December 2014 at the relegation-threatened NAC Breda in the Eredivisie . Here he received a contract until the end of the season in February 2015. On his debut in the 3-2 lost away game at ADO Den Haag , he scored both goals for Brabant.

National team

With the Dutch U-21 national team , de Zeeuw was European champion in 2006 .

He made his debut in the A-Elf of the KNVB on March 28, 2007 in the qualifying game for the European Championship against Slovenia ; after 15 international appearances, he was also part of the Elftal squad at the 2008 European Championship . In this tournament he was used in one game. In the last preliminary round match against Romania , which was meaningless for the Dutch , de Zeeuw was on the pitch for 90 minutes. The game ended 2-0 for the Netherlands. In the national team he fought with Denny Landzaat , Orlando Engelaar and Nigel de Jong for a regular place in the defensive midfield. At the World Cup in South Africa , he was used in two games of the eventual runner-up. After the World Cup he has not been used in the "Elftal" so far.
