Beginnings
Thorgan Hazard comes from the youth of the lower class Belgian club Stade Brainois . In the summer of 2003 he moved to the youth of the Belgian second division AFC Tubize . In the summer of 2007 Hazard moved to France in the youth academy ( Center de Formation ) of the first division club RC Lens . After three years of training, he moved up to the squad of the second team and played in the fourth division . In the 2010/11 season he came to 21 missions in which he was able to score two goals and then made the jump into the squad of the first team that played in Ligue 2 after their relegation in the summer of 2011 . There he made his professional debut on July 30, 2011, the first matchday of the 2011/12 season , in the home game against Stade Reims (0-2), when he came on for Serge Aurier in the 64th minute . In the 2011/12 season he came to 14 appearances in the first team and 13 appearances in which he scored four goals in the second team.
Via Chelsea to Waregem
At the end of July 2012, Hazard was signed by the Champions League winners Chelsea FC . He stayed there for only 37 days and during this time he worked in the U21s as well as in the A-youth as part of the NextGen Series .
On August 31, 2012 Hazard was awarded to the first division club SV Zulte Waregem until the end of the 2012/13 season in his home country . The loan was extended for the 2013/14 season after the end of the season . In two seasons Hazard came in 73 league games in which he scored 19 goals.
Borussia Monchengladbach
For the 2014/15 season Hazard did not return to Chelsea, but initially switched to Borussia Mönchengladbach on loan to the German Bundesliga . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on December 6, 2014 in a 3-2 win over Hertha BSC . On February 23, 2015, he was firmly committed and given a contract that runs until June 30, 2020. Hazard, who wanted to change, turned down an offer to extend the contract in April 2019.
Borussia Dortmund
For the 2019/20 season Hazard moved to Borussia Dortmund within the Bundesliga , where he met his national team-mate Axel Witsel . The striker signed a contract with BVB that runs until 2024. In August 2019 Hazard won his first title with the club when the double winner of the previous season, FC Bayern Munich , was defeated 2-0 in the DFL Supercup .
On matchday 14 he scored his 34th Bundesliga goal, becoming the Belgian with the most hits in the top German division and overtaking Emile Mpenza ( FC Schalke 04 , Hamburger SV ). Unlike, for example, Julian Brandt , who was also newly signed, Hazard quickly found his way around the offensively oriented system of Lucien Favre, who was already known to him, and was initially mainly deployed on the wings, where he was able to shine as a capable preparer. At the end of the season he then occupied the offensive midfield together with Brandt. The calm Belgian was particularly noticeable for his agility, his many penultimate passes and his hard work on the field.
In the national team
Hazard went through all youth teams of the Belgian Football Association from the U15 . With the Belgian U19 national team , he was eliminated from the 2011 European Championships in Romania in the preliminary round as bottom of the table.
In the 4-2 away win in the friendly against the USA on May 30, 2013, he made his debut for the Belgian senior team under coach Marc Wilmots when he came on in the 84th minute for Romelu Lukaku . As a result, he was not nominated for three years , also because of his secondments to the Belgian U21 national team . On August 26, 2016 he received another invitation from the new coach Roberto Martínez . On November 9, 2016, over three years after his debut in the 1-1 draw in Amsterdam against the Netherlands, he played his second international A match and prepared the goal for the final score.
In qualifying for the 2018 World Cup , he made two appearances and in the second appearance, in the 4-0 win over Cyprus in Brussels , he scored his first goal with the 2-0 goal. At the finals in Russia he was next to his brother Eden to the national squad , Belgium was at the end of third parties. He was used in the opening game against Panama and in the last group game against England .
