Mateu Jaume Morey Bauzà (born March 2, 2000 in Palma , Mallorca ) is a Spanish football player . The right defender is under contract with Borussia Dortmund and is a young Spanish national player.

Career

Morey was born in Palma de Mallorca and played for the local RCD Mallorca during his youth . At the age of fifteen he was accepted into the youth academy of FC Barcelona and trained until the age of 19. With the club's A youth team, Morey won the UEFA Youth League in 2018 . As a result, he was scheduled for the second team , but missed the entire season due to a ligament and a meniscus tear.

For the 2019/20 season , the recovered Morey followed his former team-mate Sergio Gómez , who had changed a year ago , to the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund . There the Spaniard received a contract valid until June 2024. Juventus Turin and FC Bayern Munich were also interested in him beforehand . In the preparation phase, Morey took part in the professional training sessions, but had to deal with a shoulder injury before the start of the season. At the beginning of August he won the DFL Supercup as part of the professional squad with BVB . Since he had both Łukasz Piszczek and Achraf Hakimi on the right wing, he initially only played for the regional league team . On the 29th matchday, Morey came on the field in the 6-1 win against SC Paderborn 07 in the final phase and put on the last goal. In two other games he was substituted on for offensive players and was in the last two instead of Hakimi on the right wing in the starting line-up.

National team

Morey played three times for Spain's U17s and in 20 games for the U18s . With the U17, he and Sergio Gómez took part in the 2017 European Championship , where he only missed one game and scored once in the victorious final against England both regularly and from the penalty spot . Even at the U17 World Cup , which took place six months later , Morey reached the final with Spain and met England again, but this time they lost 2: 5.
