Faroese Football Cup 1983
The Faroese Football Cup 1983 took place between April 27 and August 3, 1983 and was played for the 29th time. In the final, which was played on artificial turf in Gundadalur Stadium in Tórshavn , GÍ Gøta beat Royn Hvalba 5-1 and was able to win the cup for the first time.
GÍ Gøta took first place in the championship , thus they achieved the double . With Royn Hvalba, a second division team played in the final for the second time. Only NSÍ Runavík in 1980 and ÍF Fuglafjørður in 1987 have managed this . Defending champion HB Tórshavn , however, was eliminated in the semi-finals.
The following 22 senior teams from the four Faroese leagues were eligible to participate :

From this year on, only A teams were allowed to play in the cup. Eleven teams drawn were set for the 2nd round. The remaining teams played the remaining five participants in two rounds. All rounds were played in the knockout system .
