The Faroese Football Cup 2001 , also known as Løgmanssteypið 2001 , took place between March 3rd and July 29th 2001 and was played for the 47th time. In the final, which was played on natural grass in the Tórsvøllur Stadium in Tórshavn , B36 Tórshavn beat KÍ Klaksvík 1-0 and was able to win the cup for the third time.
B36 Tórshavn and KÍ Klaksvík took first and sixth place in the championship . Since B36 Tórshavn thus reached the double , KÍ Klaksvík took part in the qualifying round for the 2002/03 UEFA Cup . With ÍF Fuglafjørður a second division reached the quarter-finals. Defending champion GÍ Gøta , however, was eliminated in the quarter-finals.
All first division clubs were set for the group stage. The remaining lower-class teams played the remaining two participants in two rounds. In the group stage, each team played twice against each other, with the first and second placed in each group as well as the two best third placed qualifications for the next round. If there was a tie within a group, the direct comparison decided. Then the game was continued in the knockout system .

The qualifying round matches took place between March 8th and 11th.
