Football League First Division 1938/39

The Football League First Division 1946/47 was the 48th season of the highest English football league and also the first season after the end of World War II . It began on August 31, 1946 and ended on June 14, 1947.

The Liverpool won each with a point ahead of pursuers Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers its now fifth English championship. Both newly promoted Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield United were able to keep the class; instead, Brentford FC and Leeds United had to move into the Second Division . These two clubs should be replaced in the following season by the two second division promoted Manchester City and Burnley FC .

A total of 555 players were used, with Sheffield United and Manchester United with 21 the fewest and Huddersfield Town with 32 the most players in league games. 351 newcomers faced 169 footballers, who last came into play in the 1946/47 season. 11 players were able to play all 42 league games of their club.

The championship team of Liverpool FC

The following list shows all players who played in a league game for Liverpool during the 1946/47 season. It must be noted that in English football a minimum number of games is usually required in order to receive the official championship medal. Since there was uncertainty about the specific regulation before the introduction of the Premier League, all players who presumably did not receive a championship medal due to their low contribution were marked with an asterisk (*). The number of missions and the goals scored are given in brackets. The average age of the team was 27.93 years. Only players who had played ten or more games were considered.
