Faroese Football Cup 2006

The Faroese Football Cup 2006 , also known as Løgmanssteypið 2006 , took place between March 18 and October 14, 2006 and was played for the 52nd time. In the final, which was played on artificial turf in the Gundadalur Stadium in Tórshavn , B36 Tórshavn beat KÍ Klaksvík 2-1 and was able to win the cup for the fifth time. B36 Tórshavn also took part in the first qualifying round for the 2007/08 UEFA Cup .

B36 Tórshavn and KÍ Klaksvík finished third and fourth in the championship . Defending champion GÍ Gøta , however, was eliminated in the quarter-finals.

Attendees

The 20 senior teams of the four Faroese leagues except Undri FF were eligible to participate, which were no longer able to register for the competition on time due to the fact that they were only founded this year. The following teams took part:

¹HB Tórshavn was first subsequently disqualified by the Executive Committee for placing a player who was not eligible to play. After this decision was overturned by the Legal Commission, the Competition Commission again upheld the Executive Committee's judgment. After several appeals against this judgment, the exclusion from the competition was finally lifted and HB Tórshavn was instead fined DKK 15,000 and suspended .

² Due to the disqualification of Fram Tórshavn and NÍF Nólsoy, continued without a fight.

Quarter finals

The quarter-finals took place on May 25th and September 13th.
