Faroese Football Cup 1997

The Faroese Football Cup 1997 took place between March 16 and August 3, 1997 and was played for the 43rd time. In the final, which was played on artificial turf in the Gundadalur Stadium in Tórshavn , defending champion GÍ Gøta won 6-0 against VB Vágur and was able to win the cup for the fourth time. GÍ Gøta also took part in qualifying for the 1998/99 European Cup Winners' Cup.

GÍ Gøta and HB Tórshavn finished third and fourth in the championship . With Skála ÍF a third division reached the group stage and with TB Tvøroyri a second division reached the quarter-finals.

All first division teams and second division teams TB Tvøroyri and EB / Streymur were set for the group stage. The remaining teams played the remaining four participants in a round. In the group stage, each team played each other twice, with the first and second placed in each group qualifying for the next round. Then the game was continued in the knockout system .
