Milan Milanović (born January 10, 1963 ) is a former Serbian soccer player and current soccer coach. As a soccer player, he played first division soccer in the GDR with Eisenhüttenstadt FC Stahl and in the Faroe Islands with VB Vágur .
Athletic career
Milanović became known in Germany when he played for Eisenhüttenstädter FC Stahl in the GDR league in the 1990/91 season . He was one of three Yugoslav soccer players who played in the Eisenhüttenstadt league team due to the opening up to foreigners in GDR soccer in 1990. Milanović was only used five times between the 10th and 26th matchday and played on the position of the left winger. There he was also used on June 2, 1991 in the final final of the GDR soccer cup for 60 minutes. Eisenhüttenstädter FC Stahl met the last GDR football champion Hansa Rostock and lost 0: 1.
His career began in 1983 in his Serbian homeland. From the youth of FK Partizan Belgrade , he moved to FK Čukarički . Further positions followed within Yugoslavia before he came to Germany for the first time in the summer of 1988. Milanović played three games for FC Augsburg in the Bayern League . After a year he returned to Yugoslavia. After his station in Eisenhüttenstadt, he stayed in Germany. This was followed by positions at FC Gütersloh , FC Sachsen Leipzig and TSV Gera-Zwötzen . In 1994 he moved to his home club FK Čukarički, where he also looked after the U-19 team.
In 1997 and 1998 he was player-coach for the Faroe Islands first division club VB Vágur. On August 3, 1997, he stood as a player-coach with his team in the final of the Faroe Islands Football Cup , which Vágur lost 6-0 against GÍ Gøta . After the 9th day of the 1998 season he was dismissed as a coach.
Then Milanović devoted himself exclusively to his coaching activity. He initially looked after various clubs in Serbia. In the 2005 season he coached the Faroe first division promoted TB Tvøroyri , but with whom he was relegated again at the end of the season. He then worked as an assistant coach at OFK Belgrade for several years . In the first half of the 2009/10 season Milanović coached the Bosnian first division representative FK Laktaši . On January 20, 2010 he was released and replaced by the German coach Thomas Geist .
In the 2011/12 season he was initially an assistant to Sheriff Tiraspol in the Republic of Moldova, before becoming head coach in May 2012. However, he only held this post for a few weeks and was dismissed in August 2012. He returned to Serbia and looked after numerous first division clubs in the following years. He has been in Kazakhstan for Ertis Pavlodar's first team since June 2019 .
