Faroese Football Cup 2002

The Faroese Football Cup 2002 , also known as Løgmanssteypið 2002 , took place between March 3 and July 29, 2002 and was played for the 48th time. In the final, which was played on natural grass in the Tórsvøllur Stadium in Tórshavn , NSÍ Runavík won 2-1 against HB Tórshavn and was thus able to win the cup for the second time after 1986. In addition, NSÍ Runavík thus took part in the qualifying round for the 2003/04 UEFA Cup .

NSÍ Runavík and HB Tórshavn finished second and one in the championship . With FS Vágar a second division reached the quarterfinals. Defending champion B36 Tórshavn , however, was eliminated in the quarter-finals.

All first division clubs were set for the group stage. The remaining lower-class teams played the remaining two participants in two rounds. In the group stage, each team played twice against each other, with the first and second placed in each group as well as the two best third placed qualifications for the next round. Then the game was continued in the knockout system .
