Hans á Lag (born September 26, 1974 as Hans á Lag Jacobsen in Tórshavn ) is a former Faroese football , handball and badminton player . In his more than 20 years as a football player, he has always remained loyal to HB Tórshavn .

Soccer

Hans á Lag played for HB Tórshavn since his youth and was already in the first team in 1991 at the age of 16, but was not used in any competitive game. In 1994, in addition to playing for the third team, he played for the first time for the second team in the second division . He made his debut on matchday 16 in the 2-0 away defeat against NSÍ Runavík II when he came on for Regin Reinert in the 73rd minute . The next year followed more missions for the second and third team of HB, for the first team he played for the first time on the eighth day of the first division in a 5-0 home win against KÍ Klaksvík . At the end of the season he came to other regular assignments. His first two goals in the first division he scored on matchday 13 against B68 Toftir . In the 3-1 home win, he scored 2-1 and 3-1. He also played the final in the cup from the start and won his first title with a 3-1 win over B68 Toftir. The next year HB was again in the cup final, but lost 3: 5 against GÍ Gøta .

In 1997, Á Lag was only used for one game for the third team, and in the following year he played almost all competitive games for the first team. Here he won his next title in a 2-0 victory in the cup final against KÍ Klaksvík. This year, together with Jan Dam , Andrew av Fløtum , Hans Fróði Hansen , Jóhannis Joensen , Allan Mørkøre and Jens Erik Rasmussen , the championship was also won and thus the double was achieved. 2000 HB was again in the cup final, but lost 1-0 to GÍ Gøta. The final in 2002 was lost 2-1 to NSÍ Runavík . But the next championship title could be won, 2003 and 2004 this success was repeated, Uni Arge , Jákup á Borg , Jan Dam, Andrew av Fløtum, Jón Rói Jacobsen , Rógvi Jacobsen , Jóhannis Joensen and Heðin á Lakjuni were among others his teammates in these master years. However, Á Lag played only one league game and individual group games in the cup in 2004 and thus also missed the cup final, which HB won 3-1 against NSÍ Runavík. In 2005 he came back regularly for the first team, then retired due to a knee injury and only played a few games for the second team the following year.

In 2007 he returned fully to training and was again part of the regular formation of the first team and was again in the cup final, which was lost 3: 4 against EB / Streymur . Two years later, the revenge succeeded in the Faroese Supercup, in which HB took part as runner-up and won 3-1. In addition, the championship could be celebrated this year. Also in 2010 Á Lag won the championship with HB. During these two years the team included Fróði Benjaminsen , Andrew av Fløtum, Christian R. Mouritsen and Símun Eiler Samuelsen .

European Cup

By winning the Cup in 1995, HB Tórshavn took part in the qualification for the European Cup Winners' Cup in the 1996/97 season , in which Hans á Lag made his European debut in the away game against FC Dinamo Batumi , which was lost 6-0. He was also used in the 3-0 defeat in the second leg. In 1998/99 Á Lag joined HB in the UEFA Cup against Vaasan PS , with a 2-0 win at home, but the away game was lost 4-0. With the championship title won in 1998, the next appearances in the UEFA Champions League qualification were in the games against FC Haka in the 1999/2000 season. After a 1: 1 in the first leg, a 0: 6 in the second leg followed and thus the direct elimination from the competition. HB also competed in the European Cup next season, this time Lombard FC Tatabánya was the opponent in the UI Cup , who retained the upper hand with a 4-0 and 3-0. In both the 2003/04 season and the 2005/06 season, the clash with FBK Kaunas meant the end of the Champions League qualification , from HB's point of view it was 0: 1, 1: 4 and 2: 4 which Á Lag could score his only two European Cup goals, and 0: 4. In the 2007/08 season against FH Hafnarfjörður was also no progress possible, whereby after the 1: 4 defeat in the second leg on the Faroe Islands a 0: 0 could be achieved. In 2009/10 he was only used in the first leg for qualifying for the UEFA Europa League , which was lost 4-0 to Omonia Nicosia . Further defeats in the first leg, in which Á Lag was used and sat on the bench in the second leg, followed in the 2010/11 season 5-0 against FC Red Bull Salzburg and in the 2011/12 season against Malmö FF 2-0.
