This article is about the Faroese Men's Football Cup. For the women's competition, see Faroese Women's Football Cup 1998 .
The 1998 Faroese Football Cup took place between March 22nd and June 17th, 1998 and was played for the 44th time. In the final, which was played on artificial turf in the Gundadalur Stadium in Tórshavn , HB Tórshavn won 2-0 against KÍ Klaksvík and was able to win the cup for the 25th time.
HB Tórshavn and KÍ Klaksvík took first and second places in the championship . Since HB Tórshavn thereby reached the double , KÍ Klaksvík took part in qualifying for the 1999/2000 UEFA Cup . Defending champion GÍ Gøta , however, was eliminated in the semi-finals.
All first division clubs were set for the group stage. The remaining lower-class teams played the remaining two participants in two rounds. Due to the smaller number of participants, only three instead of four groups were played. In the group stage, each team played twice against each other, with the first and second placed in each group and the two best third placed qualifications for the next round. Then the game was continued in the knockout system .
