Faroese Football Cup 2005

The Faroese Football Cup 2005 , also known as Løgmanssteypið 2005 , took place between March 5 and July 29, 2005 and was played for the 51st time. In the final, which was played on natural grass at Tórsvøllur Stadium in Tórshavn , GÍ Gøta won 4-1 against ÍF Fuglafjørður and was able to win the cup for the sixth time. In addition, GÍ Gøta thus took part in the first qualifying round for the 2006/07 UEFA Cup .

GÍ Gøta and ÍF Fuglafjørður finished ninth and sixth in the championship . With B71 Sandur and B68 Toftir , two second division teams reached the semi-finals and a third division team, Fram Tórshavn, reached the quarter-finals. Defending champion HB Tórshavn , however, was eliminated in the quarter-finals.

Due to the increase to 27 league games for each team in the Formuladeildin, the group phase was abolished and only played in the knockout system . All first division teams and two drawn second division teams were set for the 2nd round. The remaining teams played the remaining four participants in two rounds.
