In the second division he played for the first time on the ninth matchday away against GÍ Gøta , here he was substituted on in the 50th minute when the score was 0-1 for Eyðstein Simonsen , the game was lost 3-0. In the same year he also made his debut in the first division on matchday 13 in a 2-0 away win against NSÍ Runavík , he came on in the 81st minute for John Heri Dam . In his second season he was used as a regular player in the cup and in the first division. He scored his first goal on the sixth match day in the away game against GÍ Gøta to 1-0 lead, the game was won 2-1. The cup final was lost against the same opponent with 0: 1. In 2000 and 2001 Jacobsen was elected Young Player of the Year and in 2002 he was again with HB in the cup final, which this time was lost 2-1 to NSÍ Runavík. But in the same year the championship was able to celebrate together with Uni Arge , Jan Dam , Andrew av Fløtum , Rógvi Jacobsen and Jóhannis Joensen , among others .

In early 2003 Jacobsen was loaned to the Danish first division club Brøndby IF . In the league he made his debut on the 19th match day against Viborg FF , here he played from the start and was substituted in the 70th minute for Dennis Cagara . At the end of the year he left the club. He only played four games, including due to a knee injury that led to several months of failure. In July 2004, the then 21-year-old took on a contract with second division club BK Frem København , with whom he narrowly missed promotion as third-placed. He was voted Player of the Year by fans at the end of the year. In January 2006 he moved to Aalborg BK and played first class again. His first goal in the top Danish league he scored on matchday 26 in the away game against Brøndby IF, he scored for 2: 3 goal in the 3: 4 defeat. In the 2007/08 season he won the championship title alongside Jeppe Curth , Rade Prica , Andreas Johansson and Siyabonga Nomvethe . Overall, Jacobsen completed only a few games per season and left Aalborg for the 2008/09 season again to play again for BK Frem. Jacobsen has been without a club since summer 2009.

National team

Jacobsen played 35 times for the Faroese national team but was unable to score. Like Helgi L. Petersen , he made his debut on June 2, 2001 in the qualifying game for the 2002 World Cup against Switzerland in Toftir , when he came on in the 78th minute for Uni Arge when the score was 0-0. The game was lost 0-1. At the time, at 18 years and almost 2 months, Jacobsen was the youngest player ever to play for the Faroese national team. This record has now been broken by Ingi Højsted , who was 17 years and 5 months old when he made his debut. In May 2009 Jacobsen announced his resignation from the national team in order to concentrate on his medical studies.
