Hjalgrím Elttør (born March 3, 1983 in Klaksvík , Faroe Islands ) is a Faroese football player who plays for KÍ Klaksvík and was active in the Faroese national football team .

society

Hjalgrím Elttør played in 1999 at the age of 16 for the third team of KÍ Klaksvík in the third division match against B71 Sandur II , where he scored all goals for KÍ in their 3:14 away defeat. This second matchday was his only one this season. The following season Elttør was used for the first time in the Cup and gave there in the group stage in the 2-0 away win against NSÍ Runavík his debut from the start, where he was substituted in the 52nd minute by Arnold Joensen . In the quarterfinals he saved KÍ in the game against FS Vágar with his first cup goal to 2-2 in the final minute in extra time, but ultimately the team was eliminated on penalties. Elttør also made his debut in the first division against NSÍ when he came on for Jan Joensen in the 82nd minute , the game was lost 1-0 at home. He scored his first goal on the seventh match day in a 9-0 win at home against SÍ Sumba , where he managed the final goal . Elttør also came to two missions for the third team, in which he scored a total of three goals.

At the age of 18 he was one of the regular players in the first team and played all league games for KÍ in 2001, most of them from the beginning, unlike last year. However, he only scored goals this season in the Cup, with the final being lost 1-0 to B36 Tórshavn . In the 2001/02 season he was tested by Aston Villa and used sporadically in their youth and reserve team. In 2002, his league goals changed abruptly when Elttør scored 11 times in 18 games. This led to the election of the Young Player of the Year. In 2003 he achieved the record in the first Faroese league with 13 goals and was named top scorer.

In 2004 Elttør moved from his regular club KÍ Klaksvík to the Danish 1st Division at Fremad Amager for a year , where he played with fellow countrymen Andrew av Fløtum and Jann Ingi Petersen . After returning to the Faroe Islands, he played for KÍ for two years. In 2006 Elttør and his team were again in the cup final against B36 Tórshavn, which this time was lost 2-1. A year later Elttør went to NSÍ Runavík . The team won the championship right in the first year, and their teammates at the time included Jóhan Troest Davidsen , Jónhard Frederiksberg , Christian Høgni Jacobsen , Jens Martin Knudsen , Bogi Løkin , Pól Thorsteinsson and Einar Tróndargjógv . In the following Supercup, the cup winner EB / Streymur was defeated 4-0. The game for the Atlantic Cup against Icelandic champions Valur Reykjavík was lost 2-5, Elttør scored once.

After Elttør ran the first half of the 2009 season for NSÍ, he moved back to KÍ at halftime and played the remaining games there. After relegation, he moved to league rivals B36 Tórshavn, to play again a year later for KÍ, who were able to achieve promotion. In 2016 he won the national cup for the first time. The game for the Supercup against the champions Víkingur Gøta was lost with 1: 2. From 2018 he was mainly used for the second team in the 1st Deild , one year later exclusively.

With 418 appearances, Elttør is behind Fróði Benjaminsen the player with the second most appearances in the first Faroese league (as of the end of 2019).

European Cup

Elttør has played a total of twelve times in qualifying rounds for the European Cup. He made his debut in 2000/01 for KÍ Klaksvík in the second leg of the first qualifying round for the Champions League against Red Star Belgrade , which was lost 2-0 away, which KÍ was eliminated after the previous 3-0 defeat in the first leg. Elttør came on as a substitute for Heðin á Lakjuni in the 71st minute . He scored his only European goal in 2008/09 for NSÍ Runavík in the first qualifying round for the Champions League in a 1-0 home win against Dinamo Tbilisi , which was not enough to advance after the 3-0 defeat in the first leg.

National team

Hjalgrím Elttør completed 27 games for the Faroese national team , a goal he failed here. He made his debut on February 10, 2002 in a friendly against Poland in Limassol , which was lost 2-1. Elttør came on in the 84th minute for Jákup á Borg . Elttør played on October 16, 2002 with the Faroese in qualifying for the 2004 European Championship finals in Hanover against runner-up world champions Germany and shortly before the end had the opportunity to equalize 2-2. Here he was alone in front of Oliver Kahn in the 82nd minute , but hit the post. On March 22, 2013 Elttør was last considered in the national team as part of the World Cup qualification in the away game against Austria in Vienna , which was lost 6-0.
