Fremad Amager is a Danish football club from the Copenhagen district of Amager . The club played several times in the highest Danish league , most recently in 1994.

history

The club, founded in 1910, was taken over on March 20, 2007 with a 51% stake by Fremad Amager Invest , a group around the Faroese soccer star Todi Jónsson . The aim was to play in the Super League by 2010 at the latest and to promote Faroese football in particular by preparing players for an international career. The 35-year-old Jónsson was not only a well-known investor, but also a field player for the club. The 2006/07 season, however, ended in relegation to the third division. As the runner-up in the Eastern group, Fremad Amager reached the playoff games for promotion against Braband IF , which they won 1-0 and 3-0. The club then merged with Dragør Boldklub , Kastrup Boldklub and Kløvermarken FB to form FC Amager , which played second division in the 2008/09 season. During the season, however, the club had to file for bankruptcy and was excluded from the league. Fremad Amager was then re-classified in the fifth division and made two promotions in a row, so that the club played in 2011/12 in the third-class 2nd Division East . However, there was no further rise with a 5th place.
