Elis Bakaj (born June 25, 1987 in Tirana ) is an Albanian football player . He has been playing for FK Dinamo Brest in Belarus since January 4, 2020 .

Career

Bakaj's career began at his hometown club FK Partizani Tirana , where he moved up to the first team at the beginning of 2004 and made his first appearance in the Albanian top division, theategoria Superiore , at the age of 16 . In the first year he won the 2004 cup and with it his first title. In the 2004/05 season he fought for a regular place. Partizani didn't play consistently enough to be able to intervene in the battle for the championship. The 2007/08 season ended with the club as runner-up.

In the winter break of 2008/09 Bakaj left the club and switched to reigning champions and city rivals KS Dinamo Tirana . In the 2009/10 season he won his first championship and was voted Footballer of the Year in Albania in 2010. In February 2011 he left the club and moved to Romania to Dinamo Bucharest . In the second half of 2011 he became a regular and qualified with the club for the Europa League . After he was no longer regularly used in the first half of the 2011/12 season, he moved in February 2012 on loan to Chornomorez Odessa in the Ukrainian Premjer-Liha . There he managed to stay up with the promoted team. In the same year he signed a three-year contract in Odessa until 2015.

In spring 2014, due to the political unrest in Ukraine,  he terminated his contract and returned to Albania, where he was part of the FK Kukësi squad for a few months , but for which he had not played a game. In the summer he moved to KF Tirana for the 2014/15 season . So he played for all three major clubs in the Albanian capital. In summer 2015 he moved to Hapoel Ra'anana in Israel, but returned to Tirana after just one game. In summer 2016 he joined the Croatian first division club RNK Split , but dissolved his contract in November 2016.

At the end of January 2017, he moved to KS Vllaznia Shkodra . In August 2017 he returned to FK Kukësi, where he scored twelve goals in 20 games in the first half of the 2017/18 season . In March 2018 he moved to the first division club FK Schachzjor Salihorsk in Belarus . There he won the national cup in 2019. In January 2020 he signed a contract with the league rivals and reigning champions FK Dinamo Brest and immediately won the Belarusian Super Cup there in his first competitive game .

National team

On November 21, 2007 he made his debut for the Albanian national team in the European Championship qualifier against Romania , when he came on for Erjon Bogdani in the 83rd minute . By 2013 he had completed a total of 27 games in which he was able to score a goal.
