Juan Pablo Sorín (born May 5, 1976 in Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine football player on the position of a left full-back or a left midfielder .
Life
Sorín comes from a middle class family of Jewish immigrants from Buenos Aires. His father is an architect and teaches civil engineering at the University of Buenos Aires. In the early days of his career, Sorín hosted a local radio show. He sees himself as left-wing liberal and also addressed political issues on his radio show.
Career
society
Juan Pablo Sorín started his career with Argentinos Juniors in 1994 . In 1995 he was selected by Juventus obliged and played one season in the Italian Serie A . He then returned to his home country and played for River Plate from 1996 to 1999 . With River he won the Copa Libertadores in 1996 , the Supercopa Sudamericana in 1997 , as well as four national championship titles ( Apertura 1996, 1997, 1999, Clausura 1997).
In the following years he played for Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte (2000 to 2002 and 2004), Lazio Rome (2002), FC Barcelona (2003) and Paris Saint-Germain (2003 to 2004). One of the reasons for the many changes was that Sorín was only ever loaned from Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte and no one bought him from his contract with the Brazilians. It was not until November 2004 that he signed a four-year contract with Villarreal , which he was unable to keep because their coach Manuel Pellegrini no longer considered him after disputes.
From August 2006 to July 2008 Juan Pablo Sorín was under contract with Hamburger SV . On September 23, 2006, he played his first Bundesliga game against Werder Bremen . From mid-2007 Sorín suffered from a knee injury and could not play a competitive game for HSV for eleven months. On July 15, 2008, HSV announced the premature termination of Sorin's contract, which ran until June 30, 2009. The Argentine received around 1 million euros as a severance payment. As a result, Sorín left Europe again and joined his old club Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte in South America . In the summer of 2009, Sorin retired due to persistent injury problems.
National team
Juan Pablo Sorín was the captain of the Argentina national team for a long time . The technically adept and strong left-footed player played his first game in the national team on February 14, 1995 against Bulgaria (4-1). He has played 75 international matches for his country and took part in the 1999 Copa America , the 2002 World Cup , the 2004 Copa America , the 2005 Confederations Cup and the 2006 World Cup.
In a friendly against Germany in preparation for the 2002 World Cup, Juan Pablo Sorín scored the decisive goal to make Argentina 1-0 on April 17, 2002 in Stuttgart.
