Marin Radu , also Marin Radu II , (born March 15, 1956 in Mareş , Argeş County ) is a former Romanian football player . He played a total of 385 games in the highest Romanian division, Divizia A , and won the European Cup in 1986 .
Career
Marin Radu began playing football at FC Arges Pitesti and moved there at the beginning of the season 1974/75 in the first team, which in the highest Romanian league, the Divizia A , played. On August 11, 1974 he made his debut, where he immediately scored a goal. As a result, he became a regular player straight away and for many years the most successful goalscorer of his team. Until he left Argeş for FC Olt Scorniceşti in 1983 , he won the Romanian championship once and was top scorer twice.
FC Olt was only a stopover in his career. Although he was not as prominent as a striker as in previous years, the Romanian top club Steaua Bucharest secured his services. After two championships and a cup victory in 1986, Radu was part of the team that won the European Cup against FC Barcelona . In the final, however, Radu was only substituted on in extra time.
After this success, Radu went back to his hometown club Argeş Piteşti, before he went to FC Inter Sibiu in the second division, Divizia B , during the winter break in 1987/88 . After the direct promotion, he played for two years at Inter, but moved in 1990 to local rivals Șoimii IPA Sibiu in Divizia B, as he was no longer used regularly. In 1991 Radu ended his career.
National team
Radu came between 1976 and 1982 only on seven missions for the Romanian national football team , where he remained without a goal. He made his debut on May 12, 1976 against Bulgaria .
