Nakayama Hakudō

Nakayama Hakudō ( Japanese. 中山 博 道 ; born February 11, 1873 in Kanazawa in Ishikawa Prefecture ; † December 14, 1958 ) was a Japanese master of various martial arts .

Nakayama is the founder of the Musō Shinden-ryū , an Iaidō movement . At the age of 19, he went to Tokyo , where he joined the dojo of Shingoro Negishi in the Shindo-ryu Munen exercised. He was friends with the founder of Aikidō , Ueshiba Morihei , and also arranged the wedding of his daughter Matsuko with Kiyoshi Nakakura.

In 1930 he was a distinguished member of the commission that established the sword fighting curriculum at the Toyama Military Academy. After the Second World War he co-founded the All-Japanese Kendō Association ( Zen Nihon Kendō Renmei ). He also had the title of Meijin .
