Zen Nihon Kendō Renmei

The Zen Nihon Kendō Renmei ( Japanese 全 日本 剣 道 連 盟 , "All-Japanese Kendō Association"), short: ZNKR; English All Japan Kendo Federation , (AJKF for short) is the oldest and largest sports association for Kendō according to its own information with 477,000 active athletes in its jurisdiction, plus the currently inactive owners of Dangraden - a total of 1.48 million are registered in Japan a total of 1.66 million. Its predecessor organization of the same name was founded in 1928, but dissolved in 1945 under the American occupation statutes. A new establishment took place in October 1952 after the end of the ban on martial arts. Besides the Korea Kumdo Association , the Kendō Association is the only association that also deals with Kendō as a professional sport. Despite the international claim of the International Kendo Federation , the ZNKR is, so to speak, its parent organization. In addition to Kendō, the national association also represents the interests of Jōdō and its own Iaidō system, the Seitei Iai . The current president is Yoshimitsu Takeyasu and the vice-president is Seiichi Kagaya.
