The Scottish Football League Division Two was played for the first time in 1893/94 . After the introduction of the Scottish Football League Division One , which premiered in the 1890/91 season, it was the first time a second division was held in the Scottish league system . It was also the first time the men's second division football was held in Scotland under the name Division Two .

In the 1893/94 season, 10 clubs competed against each other in a total of 18 matchdays. Each team played once at home and away against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the clubs (with the same number of points) were placed tied. The championship was won by Hibernian Edinburgh . The promotion to the following Division One season 1894/95 came third-placed FC Clyde because of his re-election at the general meeting at the end of the season. The teams of FC Northern and FC Thistle withdrew at the end of the season.
