The Scottish Championship was held for the first time in 2013/14 as the second highest division of men's football in Scotland . The league, founded in 2013, replaced the First Division and is one of the four leagues in the Scottish Football League after the Premiership , and before the Scottish League One and League Two . The first season was managed by the Scottish Football Association and began on August 10, 2013. The season ended with the 36th matchday on May 3, 2014.
In the 2013/14 season, ten clubs competed against each other in a total of 36 matchdays. Each team played twice at home and twice against every other team. As relegated from last year's Premier League , FC Dundee came into the championship , which managed to be promoted again immediately.

The winners of the first round played in the last round for a place for the following Scottish Championship season 2014/15 .
