Scottish Football League First Division
The Scottish First Division was the second highest football league in Scotland from 1975 to 2013 and was the highest in the Scottish Football League . After the end of the 2012/13 season, the Scottish First Division was replaced by the Scottish Championship .
Ten teams played in the league, of which the top-ranked team can be promoted to the Scottish Premier League each season if special stadium criteria are met. The last placed team will be relegated, while the penultimate team will play in play-offs after the season in order to stay in the league against the teams that finished second to fourth in the second division .
The clubs played against each other four times. There were three points for a win and one point for a difference.
