Iain Russell (born November 14, 1982 in Dumfries ) is a Scottish football player who plays for Queen of the South . He is a grandchild of former Scottish national soccer player Ian McMillan .

Club career

Iain Russell began his career with Motherwell FC in the 2002/03 season . For the club where the two German players Dirk Lehmann and Daniel Sengewald were also under contract at the same time , the striker was substituted on five times under manager Terry Butcher . In January 2003, Russel was awarded to the third division club FC Dumbarton until the end of the season. Russel was later firmly committed by this, and completed 97 league games in the following three seasons, in which he was quite accurate with 28 goals. After relegation was sealed at the end of the 2005/06 season , Russel played for Brechin City in the following season . With 25 goals scored, he became the best goalscorer. He then moved to the promoted team in the First Division Greenock Morton . The club was able to hold on to the First Division in the other seasons. Russel, who had lost his regular place after some time, was then awarded to Alloa Athletic and Stirling Albion . After the end of the 2009/10 season he left the club for Livingston FC . There the striker was able to highlight his well-known scoring qualities with 44 league goals in 93 games. In May 2013, Russel moved to Queen of the South .
