The Scottish Football League Second Division was held in 2007/08 for the 33rd time after the introduction of the Premier League as the third highest Scottish league . In addition, it was the thirty-third edition of the men's third-highest football division in Scotland under the name Second Division . In the 2007/08 season, 10 clubs competed against each other in a total of 36 match days. Each team played four times against each other team. In the event of a tie, the goal difference counted .
The championship won Ross County , which at the same time secured participation in the First Division season 2008/09 . On the ascent play-offs took Airdrie United , the Raith Rovers and Alloa Athletic in part. The runner-up from Airdrie was able to successfully prevail in this and rise alongside the Staggies . In the relegation for the remaining in the Second Division, the FC Cowdenbeath fought in vain . The Berwick Rangers also had to relegate to the Third Division . The top scorer with 24 goals was Andrew Barrowman of Ross County.

Relegation
Participants in the relegation games were FC Cowdenbeath from this year's Second Division, as well as the three teams from the Third Division , FC Stranraer , FC Montrose and FC Arbroath . The winners of the first round played in the final round for a place for the following Scottish Second Division season 2008/09 .
