The Scottish League One was played in 2016/17 for the fourth time as the third highest division of men's football in Scotland . The league was officially played as Ladbrokes Scottish League One . The league was one of the four leagues in the Scottish Football League after the Premiership and Championship . Which was followed League One from League Two . The season was managed by the Scottish Football Association and began on August 6, 2016. The season ended with the 36th matchday on May 6, 2017.

In the 2016/17 season, ten clubs competed against each other in a total of 36 match days. Each team played twice at home and twice against every other team. As promoters from last year's League Two , FC East Fife and FC Queen's Park took part in League One . As relegated from the previous championship came Alloa Athletic and FC Livingston , who failed in the relegation to League One .

The FC Livingston won the championship and the associated rise in the second division. Alloa Athletic , Airdrieonians FC and Brechin City reached the promotion relegation . Brechin managed to rise as fourth in the table. The FC Peterhead had in the relegation relegation . The FC Stenhousemuir dismounted directly. The top scorer was Andy Ryan of Airdrieonians FC with 23 goals .

    Relegation

    Participants in the relegation games were the ninth place from this year's League One, FC Peterhead , as well as three teams from League Two , FC Montrose , Annan Athletic and Forfar Athletic . The winners of the first round played in the last round for a place for the following 2017/18 Scottish League One season .
