In 2015/16 the Scottish League One was played for the third time in Scotland as the third highest division of men’s football . The league was officially played as Ladbrokes Scottish League One . The league is one of the four leagues in the Scottish Football League after the Premiership and Championship . Which is followed League One from League Two . The season was managed by the Scottish Football Association and began on August 8, 2015. The season ended with the 36th matchday on April 30, 2016. In the 2015/16 season, ten clubs competed against each other on a total of 36 matchdays. Each team plays twice at home and twice against every other team. As promoted from last year's League Two , the Albion Rovers came to League One . The relegated from the previous championship , the FC Cowdenbeath completed the field of participants.

On matchday 31, Dunfermline Athletic secured the championship and the associated promotion to the second division with a 3-1 home win against Brechin City . The Pars were relegated to the third division in 2013 as a result of bankruptcy and are thus returning to the second division. Ayr United , FC Peterhead , as well as FC Stranraer reached the promotion relegation , the FC Cowdenbeath had to go into the relegation relegation . Forfar Athletic was relegated directly. The top scorers were Faissal El Bakhtaoui from Dunfermline Athletic and Rory McAllister from FC Peterhead with 22 goals each .

Relegation

Participants in the relegation games were the ninth place from this year's League One, FC Cowdenbeath , as well as three teams from League Two , Elgin City , FC Clyde and FC Queen's Park . The winners of the first round played in the last round for a place for the following 2016/17 Scottish League One season .
