The Scottish Football League Division Three was played for the fifth time in 1947/48 . It was the fifth of six seasons in Division Three as the third highest division in Scotland . In the 1947/48 season, 12 clubs competed against each other in a total of 22 matchdays. Each team played twice against each other team. In the event of a tie, the goal quotient counted .

The championship won the FC East Stirlingshire , which also secured participation in the Division Two season 1948/49 .
