Forfar ( Gaelic : Baile Fharfair ) is a city in the Council Area Angus . With about 14,048 inhabitants (as of 2011) it is the administrative seat of Angus. Forfar is also the administrative seat of the traditional County of Angus , which was called Forfarshire until 1928 .

The noble titles Lord Aston of Forfar and Earl of Forfar refer to the city.

Infrastructure and economy

Forfar is close to the A90 trunk road . Forfar has not been connected to the railway network since 1982 (passenger traffic only until 1967).
