Weldon Santos de Andrade (born August 6, 1980 in Santo André ), better known as Weldon , is a Brazilian football player who has been under contract as a striker for SC Olhanense in the Portuguese Segunda League since summer 2014 .
Career
Weldon began his career at the top Brazilian club Santos FC . After two lackluster years, the 1.87cm tall striker moved to Brasiliense FC within Brazil . After six months he changed clubs again and joined Sport Recife , where he also delivered his best season to date. Not even a year later he changed clubs again and ended up with AA Ponte Preta . There, too, he was able to prove his scoring risk and moved abroad for the first time in his career. The destination was the United Arab Emirates , more precisely to Dubai to al-Nasr .
At the age of 25 he moved back to Brazil to the top club Cruzeiro . He did not stay there for just one season as in the previous years, but contracted for four years, during which, however, he was awarded to four different clubs. From 2006 to mid-2007 he was awarded six months each to FC Sochaux , Troyes and his ex-club Sport Recife .
He had his best season at Belenenses Lisbon when it was awarded to them from mid-2007 to 2008. There he scored twelve goals in 27 games under coach Jorge Jesus . Sport Recife signed him again immediately after the season , but let him move back to Portugal one season later. More precisely to Benfica Lisbon , where he was only used as a reserve player.
In summer 2011 Weldon left Portugal and joined the Romanian first division club CFR Cluj . There he scored seven goals in twelve games in the first half of the season.
In February 2012 he was loaned to the Chinese first division club Changchun Yatai FC for a year . Changchun Yatai paid a rental fee of around one million euros and secured a purchase option. He returned to Cluj in early 2013. In the summer of 2013, Weldon left Romania and moved to Criciúma EC in his Brazilian homeland. In mid-2014, the Portuguese second division club SC Olhanense signed him. After the 2014/15 season , his contract was not renewed. Weldon was without a club for half a year before returning to Brasiliense FC in February 2016.
