Club history
The association was founded in 1996 by the Yatai Group, a conglomerate from Changchun. The group is also the namesake of the association. Changchun Yatai started in the 3rd Chinese division and did not make it until 2000. Only through the purchase of the one league higher playing club Bayi Chaoneng could be promoted in 2000. In 2006 he was promoted to the Chinese Super League, followed by the club's first championship in 2007 . By winning the championship one was able to qualify for an international competition for the first time. The club took part in the AFC Champions League in 2008 . After completing the group stage, Changchun Yatai finished second and narrowly missed the next round. After the conclusion of the Chinese Super League season in 2008 , the club finished sixth and was runner-up in the following season with a score of 50 and only one point behind the first-placed, Beijing Guoan .
In the 2010 season, however , the club failed to take part in an international competition with 9th place.
