The Estádio da Madeira (also known as Estádio da Choupana ) is a football stadium in the Portuguese city of Funchal on the island of Madeira . It was built in 2000 with a grandstand with seating for 2,500 spectators. The football club Nacional Funchal , which used to be based in the Estádio dos Barreiros , has played there since the stadium was built. In January 2007, another grandstand was built so that the facility can now hold 5,200 spectators. Both grandstands are on the long sides of the field.
