The Estádio do Fontelo is a football stadium with an athletics facility in Viseu , Portugal . It is located in Parque Florestal do Fontelo , a wooded park.
history
The stadium was inaugurated on June 12, 1928. Académico de Viseu and Académica de Coimbra met for the opening game on November 11, 1928 ( Martinstag ) . The athletics track was given a tartan surface in 1991 , and the turf was renewed in 2002.
capacity
When it opened, it had a capacity of 30,000; it currently holds around 15,000 people. For official football matches in the league it is approved for 12,000, of which 7744 are seats.
Furnishing
The Estádio do Fontelo has a natural grass pitch and a surrounding tartan running track . Adjacent to the stadium are other sports facilities, including a floodlit tennis court .
use
The stadium is still home to the Académico de Viseu FC , which was promoted to the Segunda Liga in 2013 . The facility is also used for other sporting events in the city, and the facilities can also be rented privately.
